For backup K Travis Coons, his Los Angeles Rams dream has official ended. The kicker has officially been released by the Rams:
#Rams waived K Travis Coons.

Coons has nothing to feel bad about. When he signed he must have known that Greg Zuerlein was VERY likely to retain his starting job, and though he likely wouldn’t make this roster, he’d have a chance to showcase to the NFL his ability to kick and potentially get a shot with another team at the end of camp. Well, the time has come.
Travis Coons had a decent year with the Cleveland Browns in 2015, hitting 87.5% of his kicks and 91.7% of his extra points, but for whatever reason they chose to move on.
In three preseason games with the Rams, Coons was 2-for-3 on FG’s, and 2-for-2 on extra points. Also, he played the role of punter once Johnny Hekker was rested, and hit multiple punts too. Outside of a 15-yard shanked punt, he was serviceable in that area as well.
Best of luck to Travis!
