Trumaine Johnson: “Cooper Kupp Is Top Rookie Material”

Another admirer joins the Cooper Kupp train, but this time, it’s one of his teammates.

Another day, another Cooper Kupp admirer, and like I said, this time it’s a teammate: CB Trumaine Johnson. For the Los Angeles Rams, the Kupp selection in the third round seems to going real well, and NFL.com recently released an article where Tru raves about him.

"I told him a week ago: Rookie of the Year. That should be his goal in my mind," Rams cornerback Trumaine Johnson said Monday, per the team's official website. "He's from the Big Sky [Conference], I'm from the Big Sky. I knew coming in he had great route running -- he could come in right now and compete, and start."

"Smart route running," Johnson said. "He can go in there and compete right now -- that's what I love about him. He's real coachable, too."

Basically nothing new here. Still, it’s interesting to say the least. Kupp has been lighting the world on fire it seems, and his teammates are clearly taking notice, specifically a guy who’s lining up against him everyday in practice. For a tested veteran such as Tru to speak such high words is obviously a good thing, and hopefully Kupp can continue to develop into a dangerous WR for the Rams.
