Here’s how the Rams set their preseason playing time baseline and what it means moving forward.

Note: I’ll update the snap counts in this spreadsheet all season including the first tab tracking the season totals. While I’ll paste individual game PT in each week’s recap, I’ll likely refer to the season totals moving forward from that link. So uh, peep it.

Six Los Angeles Rams topped 30 snaps on offense aside from QB Sean Mannion: OT Pace Murphy, C Austin Blythe, G Cody Wichmann, WR Paul McRoberts, OT Darrell Williams and G Jake Eldrenkamp. Gives you a tell on who this staff is trying to assess most intensely as they begin to build out their bubble for the 53-man roster.

Opposite goes for players with less than 12 snaps that didn’t figure heavily on special teams: G Alex Kozan, OT Michael Dunn, C Parker Collins, QB Dan Orlovsky and TE Travis Wilson. Suffice to say the staff has decided on these guys.

The real info comes this weekend when we can gauge the difference between these snap counts and those to come against the Oakland Raiders in preseason game no. 2.

Well hello, CB Michael Jordan.

The work rate between the top cornerbacks and linebackers tells you where the roster battle juice is right now.

And if we’re singling out the clump of non-starters who got just six snaps, one note on LB Andy Mulumba: well, just look below.

I’m not going as far to suggest that Mulumba, OL Folarin Orimolade or RB Lenard Tillery are going to make the 53-man roster. But I think it’s clear there’s a path to get there. And this is it.

We’ll have to see how the teams snaps develop over the course of the preseason, but if we’ve got a cluster forming among this group of players, I wouldn’t be shocked at someone to land on the final roster as a ST-only add.

As always, drop your observations on the playing time from this week as well as anything you’re seeing moving forward from the preseason snaps trends as they develop.
