While there’s no official designation for injury or inactivity for the preseason, 10 Los Angeles Rams are being reported as not being prepared to play tonight in the Rams’ preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys:
- WR Tavon Austin
- S Mark Barron
- OT Andrew Donnal
- OLB Samson Ebukam
- RB Aaron Green
- LB Nic Grigsby
- S Lamarcus Joyner
- OLB Robert Quinn
- WR Josh Reynolds
- WR Mike Thomas
It’s not the end of the world, but clearly these guys need to be renforcing their statuses for new Head Coach Sean McVay.
With WR Sammy Watkins and WR Robert Woods on board, Austin needs to make a positive impression this year. For Reynolds and Thomas, the roster battle at WR is already competitive. Their absence, should it continue unabated, could make it less so. Donnal, Ebukam, Green and Grigsby are all fighting for spots on the 53-man. And for Quinn to come out unable after two halved seasons...it doesn’t inspire confidence.
No, this isn’t a call for panic. But it is a call for concern.
Let’s see if they’re able to get back in the mix this week in the final practices in training camp ahead of next weekend’s trip up north to play the Oakland Raiders.
