The Los Angeles Rams have signed former Cleveland Browns K Travis Coons to a one-year deal.
With incumbent K Greg Zuerlein having been brought back on a 3-year deal this past March, Coons figures to be nothing more than a camp leg.
As the Browns’ full-time kicker back in 2015, Coons booted 28 field goals on 32 attempts. But with the Browns’ new regime in 2016, Coons found himself back on the market after losing a camp battle to Patrick Murray. After sitting out the rest of the 2016 season, Travis Coons found himself a job with the Denver Broncos before being released once again.
If the Rams find themselves in need of a kicker at some point in the season, Coons will seem like an obvious option.
Zuerlein enters the season with more roster certainty than last year; Sosa gave him a perfect 10/10 to make the roster this year while RamBuck had him at 7/10 a year ago coming off of a disappointing 2015 season.
Nevertheless, welcome to LA Travis!
