2017 Los Angeles Rams Training Camp: July 29 Practice Recap

And away...we...go...

A year ago, here’s how things started for the Los Angeles Rams in their first training camp practice since relocating to LA:

Suffice to say, we know how things went.

A year later for the franchise’s most important player?

Aren’t we all.

So with perhaps the big news of the day being that CB Trumaine Johnson sounds like he feels like he’s playing out his last season with the Rams, here’s where things stand on the major storylines:

Injuries

Doesn’t sound like anything went down that will carry over beyond today. And we got word that S Maurice Alexander, CB/S Lamarcus Joyner and TE Cory Harkey all were taken off of the NFI list.

SO YES, PLEASE, LET’S MAKE EVERY DAY LIKE DAY 1 FOR THIS SECTION PLEASE.

McVay’s O

Not a ton to go off of today. We got word of a couple of good plays and a couple of downs. No big issue here. It’s practice.

The bigger thing is that we got over a hump. New Head Coach Sean McVay is installing his scheme, and it’s just practice.

Check out what WR Tavon Austin said:

Still figuring it out. I really haven't been in this offense for so long; probably my fourth time getting out there with the guys. However he needs me to be. Deep threat, short guy, it doesn't make a difference to me.

It doesn’t matter that he’s a first-time head coach, the youngest head coach in NFL history.

He’s just coach.

Wading with Wade

If McVay was the star of the attraction, Phillips is the battle axe, the weapon of ultimate reliability.

There’s nothing to see here because there’s nothing to see here. This isn’t a show. This is a 70-year old man who has run defenses for 40ish years. This isn’t something to see in training camp. It’s not something to see in 2017.

But once it gets going? It will be the only thing to see.

Kobe Bryant at Chargers practice?!

Oh, it’s on.
