2017 Rams Roster Preview: ILB Bryce Hager Lies In Waiting...For Now

The Rams primary backup ILB will have a lot of competition in 2017.

Los Angeles Rams ILB Bryce Hager needs to be looking over his shoulder.

Hager was a special teams standout in former Head Coach Jeff Fisher’s regime, but he wasn’t given many opportunities to show much at MLB. With a new head coach, new defensive coordinator and new defensive scheme, Hager has a lot of hurdles to jump to stick in the Rams long-term plans.

Roster Battle

Hager will continue to be a mainstay on Special Teams Coordinator John Fassel’s special teams units, but he will be competing with LB Cory Littleton (roster preview) for snaps in training camp and during the preseason. Once LB Josh Forrest returns from the ACL injury he suffered last season, things will get a bit more complicated.

Expectations

Keep being a special teams stud and be ready to step up in the event one of the Rams starting ILBs goes down.

Chances of Making Roster (9/10)

The combination of Hager’s special teams excellence and Forrest’s injury make him a shoo-in to make the Rams in 2017. Next year may be a different story...
