When the Los Angeles Rams waived WR Stedman Bailey in April, the consensus was that that was the end of his NFL career and the beginning of his coaching career at his alma mater, West Virginia. But per TMZ Sports today, Bailey is undergoing an undisclosed surgery to try to get back on the field:
"Got a procedure coming up that WILL increase my chances of stepping back out there drastically," Bailey says.
"I damn sure owe it to myself to try everything within my power to get back on the field."
Bailey says if he's not medically cleared after this surgery, he'll quit pro football and move on with his life.
"After this procedure if doctors think it's too risky for my health and well being then I'll accept that this door has closed in my life ... but until then I'ma ball until I fall!"
It’s impossible to not pull for Bailey. Shot in the head while sitting in a car after being suspended in 2015, Bailey showed legitimate promise into his third NFL season after being drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Here’s hoping this last shot pulls off and we see Bailey make it to camp with someone.
