The move will keep him under contract for the 2017 season on a one-year deal.
Easley was a surprise addition last year in mid-May following his release by the New England Patriots in mid-April. With teams in full prep mode for the 2016 NFL Draft, Easley had to wait until the draft and UDFA period passed to see where his opportunities would come from in the market. The Rams swooped just weeks after the draft wrapped up.
Easley had a productive season, his best as an NFL player. Unable to crack the rotation in New England, Easley slid in as a reserve DL and fared well. Featuring in all 16 games and logging nearly 500 snaps on defense, Easley finished with 24 tackles and 3.5 sacks. We’ll have to see how he handles the transition from the 4-3 under former Head Coach Jeff Fisher and former Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams to the 3-4 coming under new Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips.
