LA Rams Make Roster Moves After Rookie Minicamp

The Rams have made a handful of moves as we head toward Phase III of the 2017 offseason.

Having wrapped up rookie minicamp this weekend, the Los Angeles Rams made a handful of moves today to shake up the 90-man roster.

Waived

New Mexico St. C Anthony McMeans

McMeans was expected to compete in training camp, so I do wonder if this means someone else stood out this weekend. There were plenty of other names in attendance on the O-line. You would think Demetrius Rhaney doesn’t exactly have a strangehold on the backup center slot...

Arkansas CB Jared Collins

This one surprised me too, TBH.

The one thing I’m perhaps struggling with right now is to commit to the idea that the new system under Defensive Coordinator doesn’t put a huge value on the size of its cornerbacks. Not a single one of the corners they took into the weekend was 6 feet or taller.

Signed

Northwestern St. RB De'Mard Llorens

Llorens is a heavy back. He’ll have to fight as an option for short yardage situations, but there is some space for such a back on the deeper end of the roster including the practice squad.

Northwestern St. WR Shakeir Ryan

Speaking of size...Ryan comes in at 5’8”, 161 lbs. That’s the same height as Tavon Austin...and 15 pounds lighter. So if you thought Tayawesome was too heavy, this is the guy for you!

Mary Hardin-Baylor OLB Teidrick Smith

The Rams clearly want to stack up options on the edge to support the top of the roster in Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin. This could turn out to be my favorite camp battle.

So there you go. A couple names shuffling around as we close out Phase II of the offseason schedule.

Phase III, and organized team activities start a week from tomorrow.
