According to Myles Simmons of the Rams’ official site, the Rams have signed LB Carlos Thompson:

Carlos Thompson was an un-drafted free agent out of Ole Miss. Thompson originally signed with the Houston Texans in 2015. Thompson played 2 games in ‘15 and only had 2 tackles in said games. Thompson is an OLB/DE so he offers more competition for the Rams with their change to the 3-4 defense.

According to nfl.com, Thompson’s draft profile states his strengths as:

Comes off the snap in position to snap his hips and fire under the pads of blockers. Shows a willingness to be physical at point of attack against fullbacks or tight ends when setting the edge as stand-up linebacker. Was asked to drop into space at times. Reads play-action quickly. Consistent motor in pursuit of the play.

On August 30th 2016, Thompson was released by the Texans. He’s likely a body to compete in camp, and may offer up some depth at that spot as the Rams really only currently have Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin at OLB.
