Since the 2016 season ended, fans began pounding the table for a wide receiver. The roster need was perhaps bigger than any other.
While the team made personnel moves in free agency by letting WR Kenny Britt and WR Brian Quick exit via free agency and signing WR Robert Woods, there was still a hole large enough for fans to clamor for wide receiver talent directly from the 2017 NFL Draft.
And now they’ve got it.
With the 69th overall pick, the Los Angeles Rams have picked Eastern Washington WR Cooper Kupp.
Here's how the major draft sites ranked him:
Mocking the Draft: 7th WR, 69th overall
ESPN: 7th WR, 64th overall
CBS Sports: 8th WR, 80th overall
It’ll certainly be interested to see the WR depth chart take shape over the summer. You’ve got a crowded, crowded middle of that depth chart. Perhaps Woods assumes top billing on the outside. No clue where Tavon Austin fits with a new offensive scheme coming.
Welcome to LA, Cooper Kupp!
