The Los Angeles Rams have traded down with the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
The terms of the deal send the Rams’ second- and fifth-round picks (#37, #149) to the Bills in return for the Bills’ second rounder and their third-round pick (#44, #91).
The move isn’t an overwhelming surprise. Rams General Manager Les Snead has shown a proclivity for moving around in his now six drafts that he’s overseen as GM. The move gives them the additional capital to address some needs with plenty of talent on the board.
Some of the rationale why has to include the availability of the wide receivers, primarily USC WR Juju Smith-Schuster and East Carolina WR Zay Jones. Both have been circled as likely potential targets. With both on the board, the Rams likely feel comfortable that they could slide back to #44 and have much of the WR labor pool intact.
