As day 1 of the 2017 NFL Draft wraps up, lots of talented prospects pour over into Round 2. As you guys know, that’s going to be the Los Angeles Rams’ early sweet spot. Going into the draft without a first-round pick is never the best place to be, but pick #37 is a premium pick that allows the team to scoop up some first-round talent that slipped through the cracks.
Let’s jump into some options (overall rankings based on Mocking the Draft’s BPA board):
Offense
On the offensive line there should be a few solid options. Most notably is:
Western Kentucky OL Forrest Lamp (#21)
People believe he can play any position on the OL but could be a Pro Bowl guard from day 1.
One more offensive lineman to consider:
Alabama LT Cam Robinson (#40)
As for weapons, all three of the top tight ends are off the board, as are the top three wideouts. After them, the Rams could look towards towards the next tier of wide receivers:
Penn State WR Chris Godwin
USC WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
East Carolina WR Zay Jones
Defense
Defensively, this draft has much more options. If the Rams look to go with some outside pass rushers, there are numerous options:
Youngstown St. DE Derek Rivers (#47)
Houston DE Tyus Bowser (#72)
Alabama OLB Tim Williams (#26)
Kansas St. DE Jordan Willis (#58)
There are traditional ILBs as well such as:
Vanderbilt ILB Zach Cunningham (#27)
Ohio State ILB Raekwon McMillan (#55)
The secondary is insanely deep. The options for the Rams are:
Washington CB Kevin King (#57)
Washington CB Sidney Jones (#34)
Florida CB Quincy Wilson (#48)
Washington S Budda Baker (#38)
Connecticut S Obi Melifonwu (#35)
Stay tuned tomorrow. We’ll have full coverage on TST leading up to Rounds 2 and 3 and throughout.
