Last year, the announcement of the 2016 Los Angeles Rams preseason schedule was buoyed by the novelty of NFL football in Los Angeles, a novelty built on the absence of as much for two decades.

No such bump this year.

The Rams pinballed through a 4-12 season, fired their head coach and repaid the preseason and early season excitement with the ignominy of failure. Now with a new head coach in Sean McVay, a host of free agent signings and the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft, the Rams are hoping to reverse course toward what would be their first winning season since 2003.

If they’re going to do so in 2017, they’re going to build into it on their schedule for the 2017 preseason:

2017 Los Angeles Rams Preseason Schedule

Opponent Date Time TV
Opponent Date Time TV
v. Dallas Cowboys Sat., Aug. 12 9pm ET/6pm PT CBS/Univision
at Oakland Raiders Sat., Aug. 19 10pm ET/7pm PT CBS/Univision
v. Los Angeles Chargers Sat., Aug. 26 8pm ET/5pm PT CBS (national)
at Green Bay Packers Thu., Aug. 31 7pm ET/4pm PT CBS/Univision

Obviously that game between the Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers jumps out, but let’s not discount the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys. That will be Dallas’ second preseason game as they’ve got the Hall of Fame game this year. For the Rams, it will be our first look at the new offense under new Head Coach Sean McVay. Adding some intrigue is that the Cowboys hold their training camp in nearby Oxnard, California...the site of the fight between the Cowboys and Rams in the last of their joint training camp practices in 2015. I mention that only to note there will be tons of Cowboy fans around for that Preseason Week 1 game on top of the traveling fans as part of their huge fan base. Throw in the connection between Rams Owner Stan Kroenke and Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones and you’ve got plenty of spokes in the hub.

Oh, and the Rams and Cowboys will play each other in the regular season too.

Here are the Rams’ 2017 opponents:
