The 2017 NFL Scouting Combine begins in earnest today with the first prospect groupings (offensive linemen and running backs) hitting the field at Lucas Oil Stadium for the 40-yard dash and everything else.

Here’s the full schedule for the only day in which all 11 groups are in action in one form or another:

2017 NFL Scouting Combine - Day 4 Schedule

Group Status
Group Status
Group 1 (PK, ST, OL), Group 2 (OL), Group 3 (RB) On-Field Workout (timing, stations, skill drills)
Group 4 (QB, WR), Group 5 (QB, WR), Group 6 (TE) Psychological Testing, NFLPA Meeting, PK/ST Workout, Media, Bench Press, Interviews
Group 7 (DL), Group 8 (DL), Group 9 (LB) Measurements, Medical Examinations, Overflow Testing, Interviews
Group 10 (DB), Group 11 (DB) Medical Examinations, Overflow Testing, Orientation, Interviews
  • The highlight of the day is obviously going to be the on-field workouts of the offensive linemen and running backs. As I write this, the linemen are just getting their 40-yard dashes started.
  • Keep an eye on some of the work of the interior linemen, especially centers. Not a ton of separation among the top four: LSU C Ethan Pocic, Ohio St. C Pat Elflein, West Virginia C Tyler Orlosky and Baylor C Kyle Fuller. Today’s work might start enough separation to matter next month in Philly.
  • As for running backs, I’m sincerely behind a Day 3 pick on a speedster to support Just Todd Gurley (which is a position we shouldn’t be in after drafting Isaiah Pead, Daryl Richardson, Zac Stacy and Tre Mason, but here we are...). We can’t go exclusively off of 40 times, but it’s a good baseline to work off of.
  • Might get a bit more info on the positions behind OL and RB with QBs, WRs and front seven guys coming through the public ringer. Secondary prospects are just getting into first day activities which are almost all behind closed doors, it’s mostly a day for offense.

Stay tuned, fam.
