In case you missed it, Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay and General Manager Les Snead spoke at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine earlier today.
McVay’s comments leaned into his roster chiefly with franchise QB Jared Goff. Snead, for his part...uh...well look. Snead’s headed into his sixth year as GM without any winning football to point to and some significant roster issues cropping up. So his responses perhaps bear more criticism and more skepticism to boot.
Nevertheless, here’s how things are going down today:
2017 NFL Scouting Combine - Day 3 Schedule
Group | Status |
---|---|
Group | Status |
Group 1 (PK, ST, OL), Group 2 (OL), Group 3 (RB) | Psychological Testing, NFLPA Meeting, PK/ST Workout, Media, Bench Press, Interviews |
Group 4 (QB, WR), Group 5 (QB, WR), Group 6 (TE) | Measurements, Medical Examinations, Overflow Testing, Interviews |
Group 7 (DL), Group 8 (DL), Group 9 (LB) | Medical Examinations, Overflow Testing, Orientation, Interviews |
Notes today:
- QB measurements coming in. IMPORTANT.
- Off-field workouts for OL, RB. I’m not big on these since they’re not really indicative of football talent or even applicable strength. The guy who puts up the most bench press reps with four plates. You know what he’s definitely good at? Bench pressing. You know what he might not be good at? Football.
- On-field workouts for running backs coming tomorrow. I’m eager to see who establishes themselves with track speed then go back to see how that applies to their on-field experience. As I said yesterday, I’m cool with a Day 3 RB to put a speedster behind Gurley on the depth chart.
- Wide receiver news should start leaking soon. Worth keeping tabs on. Could totally see the Rams going WR with their only pick in the first 68 selections of the 2017 NFL Draft.
