Kayvon Webster Visiting Rams Tomorrow

Webster has history with Rams DC Wade Phillips. Will that be enough to draw him to LA?

NFL: Super Bowl 50-Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

After the dust settles from the first tier of free agents, the secondary free agents step into the spotlight. You get players like Ryan Groy and Kayvon Webster getting their time in the sun.

The latter has oft been linked to the Rams. Webster has spent the past few years under Wade Phillips with the Denver Broncos. Due to the nature of schemes in the NFL, there was always going to be some cursory interest from the Rams in bringing Webster to Los Angeles.

It seems that there’s fire to go with this smoke though, as Webster posted this to his twitter feed this evening.

The interest is clearly mutual if Webster is choosing the Rams has his first destination to visit as a free agent.

Given the Rams dearth of depth at CB, it’s a wise move - if the price is right. I’m not sure if they’re trying to lure Webster with significant playing time, but he clearly sees an opportunity to compete with E.J. Gaines and Lamarcus Joyner for the starting gig opposite franchise player (for now) Trumaine Johnson.

One has to think that the visit will take place tomorrow and we’ll have more smoke signals to read.

Stay tuned.
