With the NFL season officially over, It’s finally draft season. In keeping, Bleacher Reports’ top draft expert, Matt Miller, released a seven-round mock draft with plenty to consider.
For the Los Angeles Rams, Miller looked to address the biggest needs on the roster, the receiving corps and the offensive line, while adding depth on defense.
Here are the Rams’ picks from the mock draft:
Rd. 2 (37) LT Cam Robinson, Alabama
Rd. 3 (98) Edge Jordan Willis, Kansas State
Rd. 4 (109) WR Jehu Chesson, Michigan
Rd. 4 (140) T/G Taylor Moton, Western Michigan
Rd. 5 (150) CB Channing Stribling, Michigan
Rd. 6 (191) WR Stacy Coley, Miami
Rd. 6 (219) LB Keith Kelsey, Louisville
Rd. 7 (228) WR Shelton Gibson, West Virginia
With the Rams not having a first-round pick, it will be hard to fill the void of a starting left tackle or top receiver. If a player with Robinson’s talent falls to the second round, it would be hard to not draft him. Also, drafting Moton could give the team a starting caliber interior offensive linemen on the third day. An edge rusher that can rush with his hand in the dirt and standing up is also a need, so Willis would be a solid choice.
Besides those three names, there’s not much positives to be said about the other players. The Rams gain depth at receiver and maybe Chesson can develop into a Brian Quick-level player. Stribling is an interesting press corner that could provide depth and maybe develop into an E.J. Gaines.
It’s hard to hit on the NFL Draft when you have all of your draft picks, but as we are seeing with these mock drafts it’s extremely hard when you are missing that first-round choice.
