The Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff has been rounding out this week, but the one prominent hole left was offensive coordinator. Due to new Head Coach Sean McVay handling playcalling duties, the search was a bit more complicated than your run of the mill OC search. But it seems that the Rams have found their guy.
They’ve requested permission to speak with Falcons QB Coach Matt LaFleur and expect to hire him as their OC:
FYI on #Rams OC search. Club expected to get permission from #Falcons to speak with Matt LaFleur and expect to hire him as their new OC

With Steve Sarkisian going to Atlanta, Falcons QB coach Matt LaFleur is expected to become Rams offensive coordinator, per sources.

The key words here are “permission” and “expected.” Nothing is set in stone here yet, but it’s the best lead we’ve had on the search in the past few days.
LaFleur has been a QB coach in the NFL 2010 with prior stints with the Washington Football Team (2010-2013) where he worked with McVay, Notre Dame (2014), and with the Falcons the past two seasons.
He undoubtedly had a hand in helping Falcons QB Matt Ryan win NFL MVP honors this season. The Rams are obviously hoping that he can work that magic on franchise QB Jared Goff.
