The Rams have picked up two additional picks for the draft, though one will have to be sent to the Titans for the Jared Goff trade.

The NFL has released the list of compensatory picks for the 2017 NFL Draft today, and the Rams have received two: a third-round pick (#100 overall) and a fourth-round pick (#141 overall).

As part of last year’s trade to acquire the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to select QB Jared Goff, the Rams will have to give that third-round compensatory pick (along with the Rams’ first-round pick) to the Tennessee Titans.

The Rams were awarded the picks for the loss of CB Janoris Jenkins, S Rodney McLeod and DT Nick Fairley to free agency with no signings that qualified to cancel out any compensation.

That leaves their 2017 NFL Draft order looking like this:

2017 NFL Draft LA Rams Draft Results

Round Pk (Rd) Pk (Ovr) Player POS School
Round Pk (Rd) Pk (Ovr) Player POS School
2 12 44 Gerald Everett TE South Alabama
3 5 69 Cooper Kupp WR Eastern Washington
3 26 91 John Johnson S Boston College
4 10 117 Josh Reynolds WR Texas A&M
4 18 125 Samson Ebukam OLB Eastern Washington
6 5 189 Tanzel Smart DT Tulane
6 22 206 Sam Rogers FB Virginia Tech
7 16 234 Ejuan Price OLB Pitt

As for the compensatory picks (the process of awarding of which we discussed a month ago), it nearly matched the projection we got from Over the Cap in early January. They nailed the third- and fourth-rounders for Janoris and McLeod, but they also had us picking up a sixth-round compensatory pick for Fairley. That obviously didn’t land. I’ll dig to see who in the league might be able to explain why we only got two picks with three qualifying free agent losses.

As it stands, we have passed the bigger worry of having to send our natural third-rounder to Tennessee. The concern it leaves is that the Rams have just one pick in the first 68 selections in the 2017 NFL Draft.

New Head Coach Sean McVay and General Manager Les Snead have a hell of a challenge in front of them.

Pick #236 is from the Baltimore Ravens via the 2015 trade of WR Chris Givens.
