The Rams took a seventh-round 2017 NFL Draft flier on Price, an undersized but talented pass rusher out of Pitt. It’s a strategy the Rams have used to much success (see Donald, Aaron), but Price wasn’t able to do enough with the Rams to overcome his stature and injury history.
Thompson was an undrafted free agent after the 2015 NFL Draft and was picked up by the Houston Texans. He was waived last year by the Texans and will get a chance to augment a lackluster Rams pass rush in Los Angeles.
Standing at 6’5” and 250 pounds, Thompson profiles as a strongside linebacker, the position Connor Barwin vacated when he was injured last week promoting rookie Samson Ebukam into the starting lineup on Sunday. Thompson has a relentless work ethic and will likely be given an opportunity to earn some snaps this weekend when the Rams face the Arizona Cardinals.
