Time for some college ball.

As I wrote the headline here, Penn St. RB Saquon Barkley just took back the opening kick against Ohio St. for a touchdown. He’s pretty good.

But he’s just one of a ton of college players in action today.

There’s already been a ton of action from the early games. #5 Wisconsin remained perfect on the season by toppling Illinois . Baylor remained anti-perfect as they’re now 0-8 after losing to Texas. Arkansas kicked a field goal with just four seconds remaining to beat Ole Miss. And it looks like #11 Oklahoma St. is gonna get out of Morgantown with the win over #22 West Virginia.

Here are a couple of battles I’m watching from here on out.

Ohio St.’s D-line against Penn St.’s O-line

DE Sam Hubbard, DT Dre’Mont Jones, DT Tracy Sprinkle and DE Tyquan Lewis. That’s a hell of a defensive line. Given how young Penn St.’s offensive line is, they need to get work done today. If they hold up, I can guarantee we’ll be circling back to this game for the 2019 and 2020 NFL Drafts looking at guys like LT Ryan Bates, LG Steven Gonzalez and RT Will Fries.

Notre Dame’s O-line against North Carolina St.’s D-line

I can guarantee NC St. DE Bradley Chubb is going to be a popular target for Rams fans looking ahead to the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. I might not guarantee it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Notre Game G Quenton Nelson and LT Mike McGlinchey are too.

Clemson ILB Kendall Joseph against Georgia Tech’s triple option attack

USC ILB Cameron Smith against Arizona St. RBs Kalen Ballage and Demario Richard

Joseph and Smith are my two top middle linebackers right now. They’re both gonna have their hands full tonight.

North Texas against Old Dominion

Go Mean Green!
