Los Angeles Rams 27, Jacksonville Jaguars 17: Character For Defense, Special Teams Shines In Road Win

The Rams surprised everyone in the first month of the NFL with their top-ranked offense. Today? It was the defense and special teams on display.

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff was 11/21 for 124 yards with a touchdown. The Rams beat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-17.

Those two things happened in the same game today.

Yes, it was a sight familiar to Fisherball fans’ eyes. A feckless passing attack with a command performance from RB Todd Gurley who ran the ball 23 times for 116 yards to top off a phenomenal special teams showing with a touchdown from WR Pharoh Cooper to start the game with a kick return to the house as well as RB Malcolm Brown driving a human truck into the end zone off of a blocked punt.

It was ugly. And sloppy. And the Rams were firmly in control for the final three quarters. That these are the 2017 Rams who have yet to play a game in this manner and win tells you how different these Rams are than their predecessors.

Yes, there’s still plenty of work to do. And yes, there is significant improvement needed in various areas.

But the Rams are 4-2 headed to London to take on the Arizona Cardinals with a chance to get to 5-2 headed into the bye.

This roller coaster keeps ascending.

Buckle up.
