The Los Angeles Rams extended LB Alec Ogletree earlier tonight keeping him under contract through the 2021 season. By doing so, they tied up a key part of their defense...and what would have been a huge potential free agent heading into the 2018 NFL Free Agency market.
With Ogletree now wrapped up, here’s how the Rams’ 2018 books look to lighten up with those players entering free agency:

So even with Ogletree locked in, the Rams are headed toward a 2018 offseason with required decisions for numerous starters including WR Sammy Watkins, CB Trumaine Johnson and DB Lamarcus Joyner, they’ve also got looming decisions for DL Aaron Donald, OLs Rodger Saffold and Rob Havenstein, and RB Todd Gurley with his fifth-year option looming.
There’s plenty to consider in the immediate aftermath of Ogletree’s re-signing. But with an eye beyond this season into the 2018 and 2019 free agency period, the near entirety of the starting roster is coming into the fore.
Decisions, decisions, decisions.
