Football is often a game of questions and answers.
I wrote that to open the gamethread for today’s game between the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what feels like two days ago.
In the events that transpired thereafter...well, I dunno.
There was some offense. There was some defense. There was a lengthy weather delay. And then the Buccaneers drove down into the red zone to set up a final shot at the win.
They failed. The Rams persevered. And for the first time in the Rams’ now five-year run with Head Coach Jeff Fisher...
The Rams are 2-1.
And yet, I don’t feel very 2-1.
What the hell are the 2016 Los Angeles Rams?
Are they the team that scored 0 points in the season opener and just 9 in Week 2, or the team that marshaled 37 points tonight?
Are they the defense that held the Seattle Seahawks to just 3 points or the one that allowed 28 to the San Francisco 49ers and 32 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
We’ve gotten three games out of the 2016 Los Angeles Rams. We’ve gotten three completely disparate performances.
We get answers today.
Afterward, nothing but more questions...
I said that in the game thread to close it. And now, we might have more questions than we had going in...
For now, the Los Angeles Rams sit 2-1. In a week, they’ll travel to Phoenix to face those questions along with the Arizona Cardinals.
