Week 1 NFC West Roundup: Rams Trailing the Pack After Opening Weekend

Taking a look around the NFC West after every team's season opener.

John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports

Week 1 in the NFC West wasn't what some of us expected......

Game Results

Rams 0, 49ers 28

Seahawks 12, Dolphins 10

Patriots 23, Cardinals 21

Standings

W L
San Francisco 49ers 1 0
Seattle Seahawks 1 0
Arizona Cardinals 0 1
Los Angeles Rams 0 1

Needless to say, I don't think many Rams fans saw San Francisco sitting atop the division after Week 1.

Top Storylines

Russell Wilson's Injured Ankle

I never root for injuries. Period. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, if Wilson isn't able to make it to 100% the Rams chances of winning Sunday clearly go up.

Rams DT Michael Brockers gets contract extension

This is good news for the Rams. Maybe Snead and Fisher learned from their mistakes last year.

Sorry Rams fans, Keenum is Still Starter

Silver lining? The Rams might Actually Dress the #1 Overall Pick in Week 2

Week 2 Schedule

Seattle at Los Angeles San Francisco at Carolina Tampa Bay at Arizona

The Rams have an opportunity to jump right back into the thick of things in the NFC West in Week 2. The 49ers will likely struggle against the Panthers and the Cardinals will be motivated to avoid an 0-2 start. If the Rams can pull off an upset, they won't be ahead of anyone. But at least they won't be trailing the pack either.
