Hard Knocks Season 11, Episode 1 Recap

Here’s everything that went down on the season premiere or HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Well, that was interesting.

We started with Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher...fishing. A respite before the chaos. The calm before the storm.

Then he called QB Nick Foles to cut him.

Then he cut WR Deon Long because he entertained a female guest in his personal quarters.

The first episode of this season of Hard Knocks was no snoozer.

We saw OL Eric Kush extol the virtues of sleeveless tops. DT Aaron Donald is a much better ping pong player than DE Eugene Sims. D-line Coach Mike Waufle is a scary human being. And Tavon Austin played Pokemon Go.

But the real heart of this episode? The teaser for episode 2, the rest of this season of the show and the 2016 Los Angeles Rams football season?

Jeff Fisher declaring he ain’t down with the 7 and 9 bullshit.

In an obvious nod to his critics...and there are many...Fisher said that 6 and 10, 7 and 9, 8 and 8, all of it wasn’t good enough.

Which is strange.

This is Jeff Fisher. These are his last six seasons as head coach:

And that’s the main takeaway tonight for the important, football aspect of Hard Knocks, Episode 1.

Jeff Fisher is aware he’s Jeff Fisher.

The rest of episode 1? That was just fun plus Jared Goff.

See you next week.
