Earlier this week, we reported on the news that Los Angeles Rams CB E.J. Gaines "came up a little lame" at practice during training camp.
Tonight, we’re hearing that Gaines likely won’t feature in the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on August 13:
#Rams cornerback EJ Gaines has a mild hamstring sprain. Not ruled out yet for the preseason opener, but not sounding good.

Gaines missed all of 2015 with a Lisfranc foot injury he suffered before last year’s preseason opener. Having missed an entire year of football, Gaines’ rehab has been meticulous and managed by the Rams’ professional health staff. So I have no doubt that they have worked him back in with extreme precaution and care...
But it’s hard not to worry. This isn’t re-injury of the foot injury, but you have to wonder if they’re not related. Or if the lack of football and regular football conditioning perhaps contributed to the injury.
Nonetheless, it’s a worrisome development for a player the Rams sorely need to contribute in 2016 following the loss of Janoris Jenkins to free agency.
