ESPN has filled their blog vacancy covering the Los Angeles Rams by hiring MLB.com Los Angeles Angels Blogger Alden Gonzalez.

Gonzalez joined MLB.com in 2008, working his way up the chain before taking over the Angels beat in 2011.

He fills the vacancy left by Nick Wagoner who had been ESPN’s St. Louis Rams blogger before leaving to fill ESPN’s San Francisco 49ers blog slot. Wagoner previously was an employee of the team.

It’s an interesting choice given the criticisms of St. Louis as a “baseball town” that resounded throughout media circles in 2015 and into 2016 before the January 12 approval to relocate the team.

Just as was the case with Wagoner’s coverage at ESPN after being employed as a “team reporter”, TST looks forward to Gonzalez’ coverage of the team. As fans, anyone who can provide deeper understanding of the goings on both on the field and in the front office is doing a job we should all appreciate.

Here’s to Gonzalez doing just that.
