It was a strange week.

The Rams were without standout rookie WR Nelson Spruce. DE Robert Quinn was in Rio to watch his sister. CB E.J. Gaines finally came back from his 2015 training camp foot injury that sidelined him for the entire year. Oh, and that whole Jared Goff-Case Keenum QB battle...

And all that was before Saturday’s second preseason game for the 2016 Los Angeles Rams up against the Kansas City Chiefs, their former Governor’s Cup foes.

We know that game and that QB battle will be central this week. And given the obviously team-sponsored effort to keep William Hayes and mermaids a focus of the preseason, that’s going to pop up.

Outside of that, who knows? That’s part of the Hard Knocks allure. The things that didn’t pop up to this point in the preseason are what often pop up on Hard Knocks. And with cuts yet to come, the meat of the show remains in front of us...
