Los Angeles Rams WR Deon Long has been released:
The Rams have released WR Deon Long.
— Jack Wang (@thejackwang) August 1, 2016
In early June, Sean Wilkinson tabbed Long’s chances of making the roster at 3/10 in his installment of the TST 2016 Los Angeles Rams Roster Preview.
Long was a late-season addition to the Rams during the 2015 season after coming out of the University of Maryland in the 2015 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent. Long tacked on to the Tennessee Titans following the draft before getting time in with the New Orleans Saints ahead of joining the Rams.
He was part of a crowded WR group with the Rams that desperately needs to improve if rookie franchise QB Jared Goff is going to find an accelerated learning curve in 2016.
His release opens up room for the undrafted free agent WRs picked up by the Rams following the 2016 NFL Draft.
Stay tuned to TST for more news on the WR corps and the rest of the depth chart as we head toward the 2016 regular season.
