This was expected given recent developments. Mason missed a mandatory team meeting yesterday following the deadline for veterans to report to training camp. That followed a report from this week that police had been called to Mason’s home five times this offseason. All of that followed his arrest in March involving some incredibly strange circumstances.
It’s a fair question to ask if Mason has played his last snap with the Rams.
Mason was the Rams’ third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft after a stellar career at Auburn. Mason supplanted Zac Stacy, who was waived by the Jets this week, as the starter midway through his rookie season finishing with 765 yards in his 12 games, nine of which he started. Mason was relegated to backup duties with the drafting of Todd Gurley #10 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, totaling 207 yards on 75 rushes in his three starts through 13 games overall.
