Aaron Wilson, of the Houston Chronicle and National Football Post, is reporting the Los Angeles Rams have released CB Eric Patterson:
Rams cut Eric Patterson
— Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) May 4, 2016
Patterson was signed to the Rams' practice squad in October to replace S Christian Bryant who was promoted to the active roster in the wake of the release of CB Brandon McGee.
A UDFA who passed by the 2015 NFL Draft out of Ball State, Patterson spent time with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts before landing with the Rams. Patterson's only game action for the Rams in 2015 was some special teams work in Week 14 against the Detroit Lions.
Patterson's road to the roster in 2016 was thinned by the signing of CB Coty Sensabaugh and a pair of UDFA corners in Missouri Western's Michael Jordan and New Mexico State's Winston Rose. In my initial post-draft 53-man roster projection on Monday, I had Patterson on the outside looking in.
His departure opens the window just slightly for Jordan and Rose as well as Troy Hill and Melvin White who are vying for a shot.
