Ah Phase II of the NFL's offseason schedule. The flowers in bloom. The smell of life renewed. A Los Angeles Rams franchise en-Goffed. Words.
Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on a "separates" basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
Phase II, which begins today and runs through May 23, will feature the light practices to begin installing scheme concepts on both sides of the ball. Unlike Phase I, the Rams have a bunch of new players to incorporate after this weekend's 2016 NFL Draft, both via draft selections and the crop of undrafted free agents.
Along with the deadline to exercise fifth-year contract options on former 2013 NFL Draft first-round selections WR Tavon Austin and OLB Alec Ogletree, the Rams also have a rookie minicamp coming up this weekend.
So while we're looking at the dead period coming up in the 2016 NFL Calendar, there's still plenty of work going on behind the scenes to prepare for the 2016 season...
