2016 NFL Free Agency: New York Jets LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson Retires

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

New York Jets LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson announced this morning that he is retiring.

It's an abrupt ending to a stellar career for the #4 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft who was picked after DE Mario Williams (#1 to the Texans), RB Reggie Bush (#2 to the Saints) and Vince Young (#3 to the Jeff Fisher-coached Titans). Ferguson was selected to the Pro Bowl three times, from 2009 to 2011.

Amazingly, Ferguson didn't miss a single start and was never listed on the injury report once in his 10-year career. In fact, he missed just one snap in those 10 years. That's just nuts.

The Jets pick 20th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft, the final pick among the non-playoff teams after a 10-win season. They're almost certain to draft a tackle now as thin as they are at tackle with just Sean Hickey, Brent Giacomini, Brent Qvael and Jesse Davis the remaining OTs on the roster.
