Well, the Los Angeles Rams certainly made a blatant theme out of this draft class.
After taking Cal QB Jared Goff #1 overall, the Rams spent four of their five other picks on targets for their new franchise QB. The final of those five picks, #209 overall in the sixth round, the Rams spent on Southern Mississippi WR Mike Thomas.
Here's how the major draft sites see Thomas:
Site | WR rank | Overall rank |
Mocking the Draft | 16 | 122 |
ESPN | 49 | 193 |
CBS Sports | 25 | 182 |
Thomas isn't a superb athlete or a big body, but he was able to turn out plus production in a tough situation after transferring from junior college for the 2014 season.
The real plus for Thomas, and the Rams if he pans out, is the hole on the roster that exists at WR. Thomas should have plenty of opportunity to compete for time at the position that he might not have gotten with other franchises.
He'll definitely be someone we'll be seeing plenty of in the build up to the 2016 season.
