The Los Angeles Rams are crafting a clear message on Day 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft: we need to get more weapons for new franchise QB Jared Goff.
After taking Western Kentucky TE Tyler Higbee at #110 and then trading down a bit with the Chicago Bears from #113 to add a sixth-round pick, the Rams then took South Carolina WR Pharoh Cooper at #117.
Here's how the major draft sites see Cooper:
Site | WR rank | Overall rank |
Mocking the Draft | 11 | 80 |
ESPN | 11 | 72 |
CBS Sports | 8 | 71 |
Cooper's an athletic albeit undersized wideout who didn't test incredibly well at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine. His tape suggests, though, that he has some agility that comes out on gameday that perhaps didn't surface during the testing season.
For now, the Rams are loading up on offense to craft a new identity after putting out the league's worst offense in yardage in 2016.
