2016 NFL Draft: Grading the Los Angeles Rams Selection of Tyler Higbee

The Rams picked Tyler Higbee with the 110th selection of the 2016 NFL Draft. How do you like the selection? Vote now.

The Los Angeles Rams made a splash before the draft when they traded for the #1 overall pick. An unfortunate side effect of that was the Rams went 100+ selections between picks. After sitting out the entirety of Day 2 of the 2016 NFL draft, they selected Tyler Higbee (TE - WKU) with the 110th pick.

Grade: A

After drafting Jared Goff, the Rams were wise to use their next selection on a weapon for him. The Rams cut Jared Cook earlier this offseason and have now replaced him with a younger, cheaper option. Higbee will add some much needed athleticism to a depth chart that currently reads: Lance Kendricks, Cory Harkey, Justice Cunningham.

In his NFL.com draft profile, he is compared to Jordan Cameron. Pairing his athleticism with Goff's ability in the Red Zone could prove to be a dynamic combo as soon as the 2016 season.

The downside to the pick is that Higbee was arrested for assault roughly 3 weeks ago. If the Rams can keep him on the straight and narrow - which they have shown they can do with Janoris Jenkins - Higbee could prove to be a steal.
