The Los Angeles Rams are hosting San Jose St. RB Tyler Ervin on a visit today:
San Jose State RB Tyler Ervin is visiting the #Rams tomorrow.

Ervin exploded in 2015 when thrust into the starter's role for the Spartans picking up more than 1,600 yards on the ground and adding 45 receptions.
That versatility is something the Rams could well be looking for in a long-term complement to Todd Gurley.
The Rams currently have Benny Cunningham and Tre Mason as the primary backup options with Malcolm Brown in heavy reserve. Chase Reynolds and Zach Laskey won't be expected to take any snaps at RB while Trey Watts is coming out of suspension.
Ervin's a quick, athletic back who doesn't have the size to pound a running game. That's probably ok for the Rams' current makeup who have only Mason as a shiftier change-of-pace option to Gurley. Ervin's even more slender than Mason, so there's a question of injury susceptibility at the NFL level. Ervin did chip in on kick return duties at SJSU, so that could be a role he could add to with Benny Cunningham continuing to excel for the Rams on kickoffs.
