Schefter: LA Rams Leaning Toward Goff

New, comments

ESPN's lead NFL reporter is hearing that despite the early word that the Rams were looking to take North Dakota St. QB Carson Wentz with the newly acquired #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, they're instead eyeing Cal QB Jared Goff.

This morning, we learned the Los Angeles Rams had packaged a boatload of picks in the 2016 and 2017 NFL Drafts to the Tennessee Titans for the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL DraftEarly reports suggested the Rams were interested in using the first pick for North Dakota St. QB Carson Wentz.

ESPN's Adam Schefter, though, is pushing back on those reports citing a source that has Cal QB Jared Goff as the lead man:

The Los Angeles Rams are leaning toward making Cal quarterback Jared Goff the top overall pick after acquiring the selection Thursday from the Tennessee Titans, but a team source added that the team would also consider North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz before they have to make the pick on April 28.

The source said that one reason the Rams made this deal now was to give the team "two weeks to debate between Goff and Wentz. You can make a convincing case for both. Both are going to be good."

At a press conference taking place...right now...both Rmas Head Coach Jeff Fisher and General Manager Les Snead declined to disclose who they are spending the #1 overall pick in the draft on.

Two weeks...stay tuned.
