On the heels of hosting free agent safety Donte Whitner, the Rams have brought in another hard hitting thumper on the defensive side of the ball. Reggie Ragland recently completed his visit with the team as one of the Rams 30 pre-draft visits.

The Rams have already committed to Alec Ogletree as their MLB for this upcoming season after they cut James Laurinaitis. Ragland is viewed by most draft analysts as a mid to late first-round prospect and with Mark Barron re-signing with the team to play WLB, and Akeem Ayers still under contract, the idea of drafting Ragland is a curious one.
The Rams haven't shied away from doing their homework on linebackers in past year's drafts. In 2014 the Rams had strong interest in fellow Alabama MLB C.J. Mosley with the 13th pick but ultimately took superstar DT Aaron Donald. And the 2015 off-season offered up another example of Rams-LB connections.
All of the Rams homework on linebackers has resulted in just three drafted since Snisher took over. Ogletree was the only one of the three drafted before the 7th round, the other two being Aaron Brown & Bryce Hager. Ragland is more of a traditional linebacker known for his tackling and could be an unlikely trade down target in the event the Rams miss out on a QB or WR they really covet.
