2016 NFL Free Agency: LA Rams Invite S Donte Whitner To Visit

The Rams are hosting the 30-year old safety today per Pro Football Talk.

Jeff Curry-USA TODAY Sports

Per Pro Football Talk, free agent S Donte Whitner is visiting the Los Angeles Rams today.

Whitner was released just a week ago by the Cleveland Browns after two up and down years, the timing of which was perhaps a bit unprofessional:

His time with the Browns followed a three-year run with the San Francisco 49ers and his initial five-year spell with the Buffalo Bills who drafted him 8th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft.

A three-time Pro Bowler spanning the last two years with the Niners and his first year with Cleveland, Whitner is perhaps a bit of a question mark now. He'll be 31 by the time the 2016 NFL Preseason kicks off.

For the Rams, they have a hole at the safety position yet to be addressed following the departure of Rodney McLeod who left for the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency after spending his first four NFL seasons with the St. Louis Rams.
