Robert Griffin III Signs With Cleveland Browns

RGIII is the savior apparent for the QB-starved Browns.

The saga is over. Robert Griffin III has signed with the Cleveland Browns.

It's an interesting turn for the #2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. His career started off well enough with a wonderful rookie season that took Washington to the postseason after a five-year absence forcing him into the limelight as one of the NFL's brightest young superstars...and then it all came crashing down.

A knee injury that was made worse in the wild card game of that year's playoffs...further mismanagement by then Washington Head Coach Mike Shanahan...and then hiring a head coach in Jay Gruden who had no interest in having RGIII run his system (a decision validated by Washington's return to the postseason this last season).

As soon as it was clear that RGIII would be hitting the free agent market, Rams fans began looking at the potential of adding the provider of one of the biggest draft trade hauls in modern football. A month ago, Brandon Bate wrote up the possibility of the Rams signing RGIII, a move the poll in that piece clearly endorsed. Two weeks ago today came news that RGIII "very much" wanted to play for the Rams.

The question now is if Browns HC Hue Jackson can revive RGIII's career.
