With the third mock of the day, we've got a new effort from Todd McShay over at ESPN behind their insider paywall because evil still exists in our day.
It's a relatively unremarkable top 14 overall. McShay does have Ohio St. RB Ezekiel Elliott and CB Eli Apple in there though. But with just two QBs gone in North Dakota St. QB Carson Wentz and Cal QB Jared Goff with every WR prospect available, it sets up a Memphis QB Paxton Lynch vs. Ole Miss WR Laquon Treadwell decision for the Rams, which seems to be the major schism if you go off of the mocks thus far with those two accounting for nearly two-thirds of all mock targets for the Rams.
McShay himself has waffled between the two. In mid-December in his 1.0 mock, it was Treadwell. A month ago in 2.0? Lynch.
So for 3.0, who does McShay mock to the Rams?
Laquon Treadwell (WR, Ole Miss)
Would the Rams pull the trigger on Memphis QB Paxton Lynch if he's still on the board here? I'm guessing they'd pass. Would they try to package some picks and move up to, say, No. 6 to snag Goff or Wentz? Perhaps. For now, I'll give them Treadwell. Wide receiver is another top need. He didn't run at the combine, and I'm interested to see his time at his pro day on March 28, but his game isn't built on pure speed. He's a big, strong receiver with a very good combination of athletic ability, body control and ball skills.
The conventional wisdom is solidifying post-combine.
If it's a mock draft heavyweight battle between Lynch and Treadwell, who are you taking?
