2016 NFL Free Agency: DE Quinton Coples Visiting LA Rams

The former first-round pick is meeting with the Rams.

Free agency is rolling along ahead of the 2016 NFL Draft for the Los Angeles Rams with news that DE Quinton Coples is coming in for a visit:

Coples hasn't had the career many were hoping for as a first-round pick for the New York Jets in the 2012 NFL Draft out of North Carolina. The move though might invigorate his career after a one-year stint with the Dolphins failed to manifest any of his potential.

For one, Coples would have room for playing time as a fourth defensive end in a rotation that will be without Chris Long for the first time in many, many years as he was released a month ago along with MLB James Laurinaitis and TE Jared Cook. Perhaps more interestingly, it would reunite Coples with fellow Tar Heel DE Robert Quinn; the two were teammates in 2008 and 2009.

Coples has 16.5 sacks in his four NFL seasons. There was some interest from the Panthers earlier this month, but he went unsigned.
