2016 NFL Mock Draft: CBS Duo's New Efforts Include Rams Back With Early Mock Target

The Rams are locked in at QB for the 2016 NFL Draft...unless they aren't.

Let's keep it mock movin.

The CBS draft analyst pairing of Rob Rang and Dane Brugler have their new mocks out for the week in addition to Mocking the Draft's Dan Kadar's.

Let's stack up the top 14s from the CBS crew:

Rang's Mock Brugler's Mock
# Team Pick POS School Pick POS School
1 Tennessee Titans Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss
2 Cleveland Browns Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St. Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St.
3 San Diego Chargers Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St. Joey Bosa DE Ohio St.
4 Dallas Cowboys Myles Jack OLB UCLA Myles Jack OLB UCLA
5 Jacksonville Jaguars Joey Bosa DE Ohio St. Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St.
6 Baltimore Ravens Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame
7 San Francisco 49ers Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss Jared Goff QB California
8 Miami Dolphins Vernon Hargreaves III CB Florida Noah Spence OLB Eastern Kentucky
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers DeForest Buckner DE Oregon Vernon Hargreaves III CB Florida
10 New York Giants Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St. Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St.
11 Chicago Bears Noah Spence OLB Eastern Kentucky DeForest Buckner DE Oregon
12 New Orleans Saints Jarran Reed DT Alabama A'Shawn Robinson DT Alabama
13 Philadelphia Eagles A'Shawn Robinson DT Alabama Paxton Lynch
QB Memphis
14 Oakland Raiders Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson Reggie Ragland ILB Alabama

There's virtually no change there from their last mocks, though Brugler's pick at 13 changed to Paxton Lynch. We haven't seen the Eagles going after a QB often, but with the news that they're not interested in franchise tagging Sam Bradford and may even be in interested in bringing back Nick Foles, we may see it more often. Of course, that will have a direct impact on the Rams.

Rang's up first, though he's got the same pick for the Rams:

Jared Goff (QB, Cal)

With rookie Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley and the playmaking Tavon Austin on offense and the NFL's most ferocious defensive line, the Rams are only a legitimate quarterback away from contention in the NFC West. Enter Goff, a local product sure to excite the "new" Los Angeles fan base. Goff lacks the build and arm strength scouts would prefer, but he is an instinctive quarterback who wins with anticipation and accuracy.

Why write a new blurb if you're keeping the same pick? I endorse this functional laziness wholeheartedly.

Brugler, on the hand, had the Rams taking Lynch. Now that he slides up to 13 to the Eagles, who does he mock to the Rams?

Laquon Treadwell (WR, Ole Miss)

The Rams haven't had much luck drafting the wide receiver position in the early rounds over the last 15 years, but Treadwell could change that trend.

What's interesting here is that Brugler charted a course for Treadwell to the Rams without avoiding offense in his top 14. Nearly half (six of 14) of the pre-Rams picks are on offense, though it took three QBs and Ezekiel Elliott to see the top WR to the Rams.

That may just be what it takes for the Treadwell fan base to gain some legitimacy as we haven't seen Quon mocked our way since Dan Kadar's early January mock.

It at least softens the QB mockery the Rams are stuck to right now.

The question is how things change, if at all, in the next two weeks as we prepare for the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine.
