2016 NFL Mock Draft: Kadar Has Rams Glued To QB

We're still two weeks away from the NFL Scouting Combine, but the Rams are pretty settled into the mock draft world as taking a quarterback. The issue now seems to be which one.

Dan Kadar at Mocking the Draft has a new mock out this week, and we're nearly at a point where I feel more comfortable skipping the top 14 and just looking at past mock choices.

Nearly.

Let's compare this one to Dan's previous mock from last week:

Kadar's Feb. 1 Mock Kadar's Feb. 8 Mock
# Team Pick POS School Pick POS School
1 Tennessee Titans Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss Laremy Tunsil OT Ole Miss
2 Cleveland Browns Jared Goff QB California Jared Goff QB California
3 San Diego Chargers Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame DeForest Buckner DE Oregon
4 Dallas Cowboys Carson Wentz QB North Dakota St. Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St.
5 Jacksonville Jaguars Joey Bosa DE Ohio St. Joey Bosa DE Ohio St.
6 Baltimore Ravens Jalen Ramsey CB Florida St. Ronnie Stanley OT Notre Dame
7 San Francisco 49ers Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss Noah Spence DE/OLB Eastern Kentucky
8 Miami Dolphins Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson Myles Jack OLB UCLA
9 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Noah Spence DE/OLB Eastern Kentucky Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson
10 New York Giants DeForest Buckner DE Oregon Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio St.
11 Chicago Bears Myles Jack OLB UCLA Reggie Ragland ILB Alabama
12 New Orleans Saints Robert Nkemdiche DT/DE Ole Miss Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss
13 Philadelphia Eagles Vernon Hargreaves III CB Florida Paxton Lynch QB Memphis
14 Oakland Raiders Reggie Ragland ILB Alabama Vernon Hargreaves III CB Florida

And while Kadar had the Rams taking Paxton Lynch last time, he's off the board at 13. With the post-Senior Bowl hype dying down, the Rams get mocked to:

Carson Wentz (QB, North Dakota St.)

It's getting harder to see Wentz falling this far in the first round. But since this mock draft doesn't have trades, he's available. Regarding a trade, it's worth reminding that the Rams have two second-round picks if they want to move up on a quarterback.

For the rest of the mock, Michigan St. QB Connor Cook goes at #22 to the Houston Texans, a popular spot to clean up any QBs that make it through the Rams at 15. And Kadar has a foursome of offensive tackles gone from 20-31: Ohio St. OT Taylor Decker (#20 to the New York Jets), Michigan St. OT Jack Conklin (#23 to the Minnesota Vikings), Auburn OT Shon Coleman (#30 to the Carolina Panthers) and Indiana OT Jason Spriggs (#31 to the Denver Broncos).

It's worth keeping in mind how Kadar's mocks for the Rams have evolved:

Date 1.15
Dec. 22 Laquon Treadwell (WR, Ole Miss)
Jan. 4 Laquon Treadwell (WR, Ole Miss)
Jan. 11 Paxton Lynch (QB, Memphis)
Jan. 18 Noah Spence (DE, Eastern Kentucky)
Jan. 25 Paxton Lynch (QB, Memphis)
Feb. 2 Paxton Lynch (QB, Memphis)
Feb. 9 Carson Wentz (QB, North Dakota St.)

The QB concrete continues to harden for the Rams.

Make sure to keep tabs on our mock draft tracker which has all the major mocks we cover at TST.

The Super Bowl's done. It's the 2016 offseason, and we're firmly in the tunnel toward the draft.

Stay tuned.
