Former St. Louis Rams MLB James Laurinaitis is facing new waters this offseason, a first for what will now be his eighth year in the NFL: free agency.
Having been released along with longtime teammate DE Chris Long and TE Jared Cook, Laurinaitis is just now feeling out potential suitors for what will be his second employer in the NFL. And from NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, it sounds like that second employer is possibly on deck in the New Orleans Saints:
The interest in FA LB James Laurinaitis is strong, and #Saints want to get a jump on things. NO hoping to bring him in for a visit next week

At the mike, the Saints have both Stephone Anthony, their first round pick from the 2015 NFL Draft, and Michael Mauti, a mid-season free agent addition last year.
The Rams confirmed at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine that they're moving OLB Alec Ogletree to MLB for 2016 after missing 12 games in 2015 due to an ankle injury. Tree headlines the Rams' depth chart at MLB with just Daren Bates, Bryce Hager and Cameron Lynch at MLB thereafter.
Bates, though, is a restricted free agent so we'll have to see how that plays out.
