2016 NFL Mock Draft: CBS Duo Updates QB Selections For Rams

It's February. Conventional wisdom is now officially conventional.

Well, we're here. February 1. Mock drafts are now too plentiful to really break ground without seeming like a stretch.

Sure, the Senior Bowl shifted things slightly. The Scouting Combine later this month will moreso. Bear in mind though that a year ago, the conventional wisdom began to coalesce around the Rams taking a wide receiver or offensive lineman with the 10th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Nope.

So just carry a pinch of skepticism with you throughout the next three months. It'll come in handy.

In any case, we've got an updated pair of mocks from CBS' pair in Rob Rang and Dane Brugler. How do they navigate to the Rams at 15?

There's a  big name missing from Rang's mock if you caught it. If not, no worries. He's got the Rams making it work:

Jared Goff (QB, Cal)

With rookie Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley and the playmaking Tavon Austin on offense and the NFL's most ferocious defensive line, the Rams are only a legitimate quarterback away from contention in the NFC West. Enter Goff, a local product sure to excite the "new" Los Angeles fan base. Goff lacks the build and arm strength scouts would prefer, but he is an instinctive quarterback who wins with anticipation and accuracy.

A week ago when I posted Rang's first mock, I said this:

Let the Great Rams QB Debate Begin. Tossing Cook in the mix gives us a four-wide QB race, though Goff's stock is too solidly high right now to have pushed him to the Rams. That will change...

NOTHNG...CAN'T...HAPPEN. Open minds + skepticism = proper mock draft attitude.

Brugler's turn:

Paxton Lynch (QB, Memphis)

The Rams have a very talented roster, except at the most important position in sports: quarterback. And as the franchise makes the move to L.A., Lynch would give the Rams a young passer to groom.
